Route Trax Red Line (University of Utah–South Jordan) Nine new stations and over 10 miles of rail were constructed for this extension at an estimated cost of $452 million. That day also marked the opening of the Mid-Jordan extension, running from Fashion Place West through Midvale and West Jordan to the Daybreak development in South Jordan. On August 7, 2011, UTA switched to a color-based naming system and the Murray–University Line became the Red Line. The southern end of the line was discontinued on May 1, 2011, leaving Fashion Place West in Murray as the new southern terminus the line was briefly renamed the Murray–University Line to reflect the change. The original line from the university to Sandy ran only twice a day during commute hours, while the University Line ran regularly. The station opened August 7, 2011, as part of the Red Line (Mid-Jordan) and is operated by the Utah Transit Authority. The 703 route number was first used by the Sandy/University Line, also known as the Murray/Midvale/University Line, which opened on Decemalong with the University Line. The station is part of a railway right of way that was created specifically for the southwestern end of the Red Line. In the early planning stages, the station was referred to as "Daybreak North Station", but later changed to the current name. The station has a free Park and Ride lot with 200 parking spaces available, but there are plans for a total of about 400 parking spaces. When the station was constructed, there was almost nothing in its immediate vicinity. Since its construction, the station has only been accessible from the southwest end of West South Jordan Parkway, but with continued construction of the Mountain View Corridor (SR-85), it will eventually be accessible via the Mountain View Corridor/West South Jordan Parkway interchange just to the southwest. The station is located at 10605 South Grandville Avenue (5600 West). The Red Line provides service from the University of Utah to the Daybreak community. South Jordan Parkway station is a light rail station in the Daybreak community in South Jordan, Utah, United States, served by the Red Line of the Utah Transit Authority's (UTA) TRAX light rail system.
