If I had more old gear I would definitely invest in a multi port Midi interface. This means I have to daisy chain but it still works. My solution is all my audio interfaces have Midi ports. These are the commands that are already defined and can be send by any sequencer: 1 - Channel Re-Mapping. It’s going to become harder for those people like me who have the old gear that only has the Midi ports and not USB. Anyway, I started to dump the communication between my computer and MIDI Timepiece and I could figure out some SYSEX command to program MTP-AV and how to create, name and save some setting on modifiers. It’s just plain outdated and there’s a few other threads with same issues. So I’ll agree that it might be called a Cakewalk issue but it’s not Cakewalk that is broken, it’s the driver. This is probably to protect us from using faulty drivers. But getting Windows to see a device and then Cakewalk are not exactly the same thing.Ĭakewalk seems fussy about audio and midi drivers. This is sort of true and you are absolutely correct that if it shows as connected in device manager that rules out connection and driver. If it sees the MOTU, you know it's Cakewalk. Try another DAW? Reaper is small and easy to install. If it's recognised by Windows, it must be a Cakewalk issue, don't you think? But that's more expensive and my wife is tired of me spending money. If I can find those and then do a completely clean install, perhaps things will work? So I am wondering what file(s) might be remaining after the uninstall that might be the culprit here. ![]() It even called up the screen with my recently opened files. On the laptop, the install was the first one and when I launched Cakewalk, it ran me through all the quick tutorials and such, as it's supposed to for the first launch.īut on my desktop, it didn't do this, as if it's recognizing that I've already had Cakewalk installed. Uninstalled Cakewalk and all related files. So then I went back to my desktop (only 3 weeks old) with Windows 11 as well and went through the following steps: Windows recognized the MIDI device, and Cakewalk allowed me to select the MOTU input and output channels, just as it should. Then I downloaded the MOTU drivers from their website. They suggested I try it on a different computer, so I installed Cakewalk on my Lenovo (Windows 11) laptop. I heard back from MOTU and they gave me some things to try. MOTU WDM/GSIF drivers are now shipping with all MOTU MIDI and audio interfaces.UPDATE: Still not working but learned some things. "We view MOTU audio interfaces like the 2408mkII as one of the highest-quality, most cost-effective audio I/O solutions for Giga users." "MOTU's Version 2 GSIF driver provides excellent, extremely low-latency performance with all GigaStudio products," commented Jeff Klopmeyer, Tascam's Marketing Director, in reference to their recent acquisition of Nemesys and the entire GigaStudio line of PC-based sampling products. "MOTU and Cakewalk have worked closely together to bring FireWire audio to Windows 2000 under WDM, and we're thrilled with the performance and convenience that the MOTU 828 provides SONAR users," commented Greg Henderschott, Cakewalk's President/CEO. MOTU's 828 FireWire audio interface connects to any FireWire-equipped Windows 2000 or Windows Me PC and provides low-latency, plug-and-play 24-bit audio I/O for any WDM-compatible audio application, such as Cakewalk's SONAR software. ![]() Each MIDI port provides 16 unique MIDI channels. Windows Me and Windows XP eliminate this barrier, giving parallel MIDI Timepiece-AV users 16 MIDI input/output ports (via two networked AV's) or dozens of MIDI input/output ports via as many MOTU USB interfaces (any model) as their system can handle via a standard USB hub. MIDI applications can access up to 10 MIDI input/output ports under Windows 98SE and Windows 2000, the maximum number of MIDI ports allowed by these two platforms. MOTU's USB MIDI and PCI-324 audio WDM drivers also provide "Wave" driver support for Windows 98SE and Windows Me, providing backward compatibility for users who have not yet upgraded to Windows 2000. We're already testing our WDM drivers with Windows XP and we expect to post them on our web site the very day that Windows XP ships." "And MOTU is still the first and only company to ship comprehensive WDM support for USB, Parallel, FireWire and PCI. "MOTU is first to bring WDM FireWire audio to Windows 2000 with our 828 audio interface," said Jim Cooper, MOTU Marketing Director. MOTU's new drivers support all of the following I/O formats: This "across the board" release also paves the way for Windows XP compatibility when it ships later this year. We have just posted Windows 2000 WDM drivers for all our MIDI and audio interfaces. Windows 2000 WDM "XP-ready" Drivers for all MOTU MIDI and Audio Interfaces
